BENEFITS OF BLEPHAROPLASTY

IMPROVE YOUR VISION

Over time, your eyes also experience droopy eyelids due to aging, lifestyle habits or genetics. In elderly patients, excess tissue in the upper eyelid, including skin, fat, fascia, and muscle, loses elasticity, causing prolapse of the upper eyelid, which obscures vision. After a close examination and examination of the eye, the doctor may consider Ophthalmic Surgery to restore the patient's vision.

CREATE DOUBLE EYELID

The eyes are one of the first organs on the face that make people notice you, but also the first to show aging. And in Asian culture, beautiful big double eyelids are considered the standard of beauty to help create attractive facial features. Single eyelids, lined eyelids or eyelids hidden under sagging skin all affect the beauty of the eyes. Double Eyelid Plastic Surgery, which can help you remove excess skin tissue, lift your eyelids and create a more defined eyelid crease. Along with cutting excess skin and removing fat bags, or transferring fat to areas lacking fat, this method also helps to rejuvenate eyes, tighten skin, remove wrinkles and dark circles under eyes.

BRINGS VIBRANT FACIAL EXPRESSION

Drooping eyelids can make you look sleepy, or large under-eye-bags can make you look tired. Blepharoplasty can help relieve these concerns, while providing a fresh look and restoring youthfulness to your face. Phẫu Thuật Cắt Mí Mắt có thể giúp bạn giải tỏa những lo lắng trên, đồng thời mang lại vẻ ngoài tươi tắn và khôi phục sự trẻ trung cho khuôn mặt.

BLEPHAROPLASTY SURGERY PROCESS

Before performing surgery, the patient will be consulted by the doctor at AVA hospital to choose the appropriate eyelid surgery method. The patient is then assigned an eye exam to check for eye diseases, and a general physical exam. The anesthetic method is local anesthesia. Patients are asked to discontinue aspirin-containing medications for 10 days prior to surgery.

UPPER EYELID SURGERY

In Upper Blepharoplasty, a small 2 mm incision is made in the crease of the eyelid. Excess skin and fat pockets are removed. The new skin edges are then stitched together to create a natural lifting effect. This type of surgery to create double eyelids is commonly used in Asian patients, to correct the traditional monolid eyes.

LOWER EYELID SURGERY

In Lower Blepharoplasty, the incision is in the lower eyelid margin.

If the patient has excess skin that needs to be removed, the incision will be made on the outside of the skin and at the first crease under the eyelid. Incisions placed in this position not only cover the scar but also preserve the muscles surrounding the eye, preventing the eyelid pull down (also known as drooping eyelid) often seen in incisions that are too close to the lashes

If the patient's eyelid does not have excess skin on the lower eyelid, an incision can be made inside the eyelid, also known as a transconjunctival blepharoplasty. This surgical technique completely leaves no scars for the patient.

The incision is then sutured closed. After a while, the eyelids are improved in shape and restored to their youthfulness.

BOTH UPPER AND LOWER EYELID SURGERY

Many patients need both upper and lower eyelid reconstruction so the doctor will combine both upper and lower eyelid surgery techniques in the same procedure. Excess skin will be removed to help erase wrinkles around the eyes, fatty tissue is completely removed or transferred to supplement the areas of eyes that lack fat.
Depending on the condition of each patient, surgery for both eyelids can be completed in about 30-45 minutes.

BEFORE & AFTER

RECOVERY PROCESS AFTER BLEPHAROPLASTY

IMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGERY

Patients may experience dry eyes and excessive tearing, as well as swelling and bruising. These symptoms should subside within a few weeks after surgery. Patients need to raise the pillow when sleeping, can apply a cold compact if there is a lot of swelling, use oral and topical medications prescribed by the doctor and should rest as much as possible.

AFTER 5 TO 7 DAYS

If the incision is sutured with non-absorbable sutures, the patient should return to the hospital for suture removal 5 to 7 days after surgery. In case the doctor uses a sterile bandage instead of sutures, the patient needs to change the bandage as prescribed by the doctor. Bruises and swelling are also significantly reduced, but it may take a few weeks for these symptoms to disappear completely.

AFTER 2 – 3 WEEKS

Bruises may disappear completely in some patients with less swelling and bruising. However, eyelid folds are still quite new and have not achieved natural results. You need to wait another 3-6 months to see optimal results. This is the time it takes for the soft tissue to return as well as for the scar to heal and disappear.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO SHOULD HAVE BLEPHAROPLASTY?

Before the patient's eyelid surgery, AVA hospital doctors will conduct an eye exam, discuss each person's requirements and give advice on an appropriate method. If the patient notices the following signs, an appointment can be made for a more detailed consultation:

- Upper eyelid drooping, with few or more folds in the eyelids;

- Lower eyelid drooping, lower eyelid shrinking and forming horizontal wrinkles due to stretched eyelid skin

- Excess fat, the cause of "puffiness" in the lower eyelid or drooping the upper eyelid.

DO BLEPHAROPLASTY LEAVE A SCAR?

There are 2 incisions in eyelid surgery, which is the upper eyelid incision and the lower eyelid incision. In the upper eyelid, the incision is located right in the natural fold of the eyelid and over time this incision heals and is difficult to see. In the lower eyelid, the incision is placed at the first crease of the lower eyelid. Especially in patients who do not cut the skin but only remove the fat bag endoscopically through a small hole, the wound heals very quickly and leaves no scar.

For patients with keloid scars, hypertrophic scars. Rarely, these types of scars appear on the face or eyelids, but often appear on the body, where there is frequent movement of the skin to stretch the skin, or friction with cloth surfaces, beds, chairs, etc. … The body will respond to these stimuli by producing more collagen to protect itself, causing keloids or hypertrophic scars. The eyelids or face are places where there is little movement, so it is difficult to leave these types of scars.

However, during the recovery period after surgery, if the post-operative care is not good, scars can be made. Patients need to contact the surgeon early to be treated quickly with lasers or scar creams.

CAN I COMBINED BLEPHAROPLASTY WITH OTHER COSMETIC PROCEDURE ON THE FACE?

Entirely possible. Many patients apply a number of other procedures during eyelid surgery to help optimize the effect and take advantage of the recovery time. Possible combinations include:

EyeBrow lift surgery

Facelift

Chin Implant

Facial recontouring using fat graft

Botox or Filler injections

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULT LAST?

Eyelid surgery is one of the most effective plastic surgery procedures. The removed fat pockets will not reappear. Although the skin aging process can create wrinkles and excess skin on the forehead, eyebrow area and upper eyelids, it lasts at least for 5-7 years.
