WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TRADITIONAL ABDOMINAL PLASTIC METHOD?

REMOVE LOOSE SKIN

Abdominal muscles stretch when you gain too much weight or during pregnancy to create space for the fetus. Over a long period of time, this will cause excess skin or possibly even a split in the abdominal muscles causing a weakened abdominal wall.

By removing the skin and tightening the abdominal wall with sutures, it will help to remove the loose skin as well keeping the abdomen more tightened.

RECONSTRUCT YOUR ABDOMEN TO MAKE IT MORE TONED AND SHAPED.

With vigorous exercise, some patients can achieve a 6-pack or 11 abs line.

However those with thick abdominal fat or large amounts of excess skin will be completely unable to achieve this result.

With abdominoplasty, your doctor can help remove this thick fat layer and excess skin so you can immediately achieve a more toned abs.

IMPROVE STRETCH MARKS

Most of the abdominoplasty patients are postpartum mothers and have stretch marks in the lower abdomen. These stretch marks can be removed partially by removing excess skin in the lower abdomen.

However, these stretch marks will either be partially or completely removed as a result of the excision of excess lower abdominal skin, and the remaining stretch marks will be improved through the stimulation of new collagen production.

Most patients are satisfied with the results after this surgery.

TRADITIONAL ABDOMINOPLASTY PROCESS

Before surgery, the patient will be examined by doctors at AVA Hospital. The patient should present all his or her requests and wishes to the doctor regarding the surgery. This is important information so your doctor can evaluate and advise you on the best surgical approach for you.

In addition, a series of medical testings and examinations will be carried out to ensure that the patient is in good health before surgery.

GENERAL ANESTHESIA

Abdominoplasty is generally classified as a major surgery that can last from 2-5 hours, so the patient needs to be under general anesthesia.

AVA hospital is licensed and regulated by the Ministry of Health and fully qualified to perform major surgeries.

MINI ABDOMINOPLASTY PROCESS

A Mini Tummy Tuck involves the following steps:

- First, the doctor makes a small incision in the lower abdomen
- Next, separate the skin from the abdominal wall below the navel
- Then, remove excess fat and excess skin
- Finally, suture the upper and lower skin together and close the incision.

FULL ABDOMINOPLASTY

A Full Abdominoplasty surgery includes the following steps:

- First, the doctor makes a large incision in the lower abdomen, from the position of the left hip to the right hip, and just above the genitals.
- Next, make a second incision to separate the navel from the surrounding tissues.
Next, separate the skin from the abdominal wall.
- Conduct rearrangement of abdominal muscle bundles, remove excess fat and excess skin.
- In particular, the doctor will cut and shape the patient a new navel and then sew it back in place of the old navel.
- Finally, suture the upper and lower skin together and close the incision.

BEFORE & AFTER

MINIMALLY INVASIVE ABDOMINAL CONTOURING USING EMBRACE RF RECOVERY PROCESS

IMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGERY

Most patients will stay in the hospital for at least one day after surgery. Immediately after the incision is closed, the patient will be placed with a drainage tube, and carefully dressed in an abdominal compartment garment.

After waking up, the patient may feel some pain in the lower abdomen and will be prescribed some pain medication.

Especially at AVA hospital, patients are continuously monitored by doctors 24/24 and receive rehabilitation treatment with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This technology will help increase the amount of oxygen in blood 10-12 times and help wounds heal 75% faster.

AFTER 2-4 WEEKS

During this time, you still need to wear an abdominal compression garment to help the recovery process.

Your doctor will advise you to avoid overstretching your abdomen and to keep your knees slightly bent while lying down to reduce stress on the incision.

AFTER 6-8 WEEKS

It takes about 6 weeks for you to fully recover and see visible results from the abdominoplasty.

After 6 weeks you can discontinue abdominal compression garment after a thorough examination by your doctor.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WILL TRADITIONAL ABDOMINOPLASTY SURGERY LEAVE A BAD SCAR?

As mentioned in the surgical procedure, abdominoplasty is a traditional surgery with large incisions of the skin, therefore, most patients after surgery will have a scar depending on the incision.

However, the scar will fade over time and have a color close to the surrounding skin. However, for some patients that are prone to keloid, the scars might be more visible since it is red or darker than the skin color.

At AVA Hospital, the success of a surgery is evaluated even by the quality of the scar left after the procedure. With over 20 years of specialized training and experience at leading hospitals in the U.S., Australia, and Singapore, along with the support of advanced aesthetic technologies, the AVA medical team strives to deliver the highest level of patient satisfaction.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM TRADITIONAL ABDOMINOPLASTY SURGERY?

- People who have excess skin that cannot be improved by diet or exercise.

- Patients with “Diastasis recti” syndrome – separation of abdominal muscles after giving birth.

- Patients who already have a reasonable weight and BMI but cannot lose belly fat and excess skin.

- Patients who want to remove excess, loose skin after weight loss or after pregnancy and childbirth.

I WANT TO LOSE BELLY FAT BUT IS ABDOMINOPLASTY REQUIRED?

Abdominoplasty is used for patients with excess skin, thick subcutaneous fat, and loose muscles. If the patient only has a minimal amount of abdominal fat and not much excess skin, the patient only needs liposuction combined with Morpheus8 or Embrace RF technology to tighten the skin.

This is a modern minimally invasive cosmetic shaping technology of InMode Corporation, USA and has been approved by FDA.

This technology utilizes 3D Bipolar Energy at an extremely high frequency of 1 million cycles per second. The energy heats deep subcutaneous fat layers to melt fat and simultaneously smooth the skin above. Notably, this technology is applied for breast lift procedures, abdominal skin tightening without the need for excision and scarring, as well as for skin smoothing and fat reduction without the invasiveness of traditional aesthetic methods.

Therefore, the hospital recommends that you schedule a consultation appointment directly with the doctor for a careful evaluation and specific treatment plan.

WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER BEFORE ABDOMINOPLASTY?

The surgeon will discuss the following topics with you carefully before surgery :

- Any medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, hemophilia, pregnancy, etc.

- Your BMI and your physical exam

- How much diastasis recti you have?

- Are you planning to have more children?

- Your weight is unstable. Ideally, you will need to maintain a stable weight for at least 6 months before having a tummy tuck. Because, if your weight keeps changing towards being severely overweight, your doctor will advise you to lose weight before treatment can proceed.
